HCC ABE to College Transition & Mentor Program
picturebar

The ABE to College Transition Mentor Program conducts community outreach, provides support services, and offers special programs for students in downtown Holyoke ABE classrooms (e.g. GED, ESOL, etc) who want to go to college. The program includes a Transition to College class that is offered three days a week, two days in downtown Holyoke and one day at Holyoke Community College. This is a free class that provides academic preparation in math, reading and writing as well as individual counseling and help with college orientation and financial aid. College mentoring is another component of the program. Holyoke Community College students, with preference for former ABE students, are hired and trained to provide support, help and role-modeling for college-bound ABE students.
