Certified Nurse Aide

This 8-week training includes a full 4 weeks of hands-on clinical training in a local nursing home studying under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The clinical and classroom experiences will have you fully prepared for CNA Certification and employment. 

Hours: 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Monday through Friday

Office Systems Technology

This is a comprehensive 36-week course designed for students with very little experience with computers or in an office setting.  This course starts with basic clerical skills.  Students will learn how to file, answer the telephone, and use an electronic calculator.  Then the students move on to the computer.  Activities to increase typing speed and accuracy are done throughout the program.  Students learn Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.  If time permits students will also learn Microsoft Publisher and PowerPoint.  Students will also learn basic accounting skills and apply them using the QuickBooks Pro 2007 software.   

The World of Work curriculum allows students to create resumes and cover letters, practice interviewing skills, discover different types of dress codes, learn about the hiring process and learn how to fill out forms such as employment applications and tax forms.  Internships are also available in effort to provide hands on experience. 

Upon completion of the course, students will receive an Office Systems Technology Certificate and be prepared for various office careers ranging from Data Entry and File Clerks to Administrative Assistants.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

This 26-week beginning level program focuses on developing English vocabulary and conversation skills needed for ABE and/or job training. 

Hours: 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Monday through Friday  

This 26-week intermediate level program focuses on continuing development on vocabulary and conversation skills needed for job training.

Hours: 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Monday through Friday

Adult Basic Education  

This 26-week program is designed to upgrade reading, writing and language skills needed to enter GED classes and/or job training. 

Hours: 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Monday through Friday


GED

This 26-week program focuses on developing skills in Reading, Math, Essay Writing, Social Studies, and Science. GED pre-testing is provided to ensure you are ready to pass the GED test. Assistance in scheduling the GED test is provided by Holyoke Works.

Monday through Friday

Evening ESOL Classes

Evening classes are provided through a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Education. Anyone 16 years of age and older can attend these classes at no charge and with no eligibility requirements. Classes run from the beginning of September through the end of June. 

Low beginning level evening classes focuses on the continued development of English vocabulary and conversational skills.

Hours: 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Tuesday and Wednesday 

Higher beginning level evening classes focuses on the continued development of English vocabulary and conversational skills.

Hours: 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Tuesday and Wednesday 

Intermediate level evening classes continue the development of English vocabulary and conversational skills. Increased focus is placed on the development of writing skills.

Hours: 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM
